The Village
Seafort Avenue & Strand Road Junction
A THRESHOLD TO THE VILLAGE FROM THE SEA
To create a more defined link between the sea and the entrance to the village at Seafort Avenue, it is proposed to add simple signage, surface enhancements and potentially a pedestrian crossing. These enhancements would also make it clear to visitors how to orient to the village.
The Junction of Seafort Avenue & the Strand Road has the potential to become a threshold to the Village from the Sea. Simple signage, surface enhancements and potentially a table crossing may be sufficient to demarcate a link from the Sea; making it clear to visitors how to orient to the Village.
The junction at this location has developed organically over time resulting in slack, liminal space that is neither part of the traffic carriageway nor part of the pedestrian footpath. Reducing the radius of the bends from the Strand Road and taking the slack road space back into the pedestrian zone would enhance the junction and clarify the sense of threshold at this point.
